Life Update

I've had a few things going on the past month, but they're exciting so I wanted to update you on all of them.

Exciting Life News:
1. I finished my freshman year of college at UAB. It had its ups and downs and difficult parts, but it was a good year over all with new friends and new experiences. I'm really looking forward to sophomore year.

2. I started a new job! I work in a library now which is perfect for me. I work at a really nice library in the Birmingham area and I love it. I really like all of my coworkers and the environment there. I have to stop myself from sitting down and reading all of the books I'm shelving. I did check out a few for myself last week.

3. I moved into my first apartment! I'm living with two of my best friends that I've known since 9th grade and so far I'm loving it. I have all of my stuff moved in, but I still have some decorating to do, which is really exciting.

All of this has also kept me pretty busy, which has slowed me down. But now that it's summer I have so much more time to read and I plan on having a lot of reviews coming soon. Let me know what other posts you'd like to see this summer.

Spring Reads 2019

I'm coming up to the end of my semester which is a relief. The most exciting part is that I'll finally have time to read! I'm also planning on finally playing some of the video games that the Internet and my boyfriend have been telling me to play for forever.  I thought I would share with y'all the books I'm most looking forward to reading as soon as my exams are over.  Also, for the sake of transparency, the links in this post are affiliate links to Amazon. These don't change the price for you, but I do get a percentage of the cost of anything you buy through the link. It would be great if you used these links, but please feel free to buy these books however you want or get them at your local library.  I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver May 28, 2019 Buy from Amazon When Ben De Backer comes out to their parents as nonbinary, they're thrown out of their house and forced to move in with their estranged older sister, Hannah, and her husb...

June Favorites

Doing It by Hannah Witton I've unfortunately only been watching Hannah's videos for about six months now, but once I started I never looked back. That's why I knew I had to pick up her book, Doing It . It's a fun book that focuses on sex and relationships education for teens and young adults. Because a lot of it is written from her perspective it does at time skew more feminine, but I think it's a great resource for people of all genders. Witton includes both personal anecdotes and social advice, but she also gives anatomical information and scientific advice. She talks about reproductive systems as they are and work biologically, rather than as connected to a person of a certain gender, because she acknowledges that these do not always align. Something else she does to ensure the book is as inclusive as possible is having guest contributors. When there was a topic Hannah wanted to cover but didn't have experience with, she had a friend or an expert write a ...

My Current Reading Slump

If you've looked at my blog recently, you've probably noticed that it's been a while since I last made a post. I'm a bit disappointed in myself, but I don't plan to let this be a trend that continues. I've had some trouble finishing books lately. Around Christmas, I had just started a book about Mary, Queen of Scots called The Wild Queen  by Carolyn Meyer and it was really interesting. But then I got sick and I didn't have the concentration to keep reading. Even once I'd recovered, I got swept up in the activity of the holidays and it came time for me to return the book to the library. Hopefully one day I'll get my hands on a copy once again and finally finish it. For Christmas I got gift cards to Books A Million and I thought this would be the key to getting me reading again, that I would buy new books and spend the rest of the break from school reading and my blog would be more active than ever. This was most certainly not the case. I did buy b...
