Review:
This isn’t going to be a very, very long review, because if it were, it could easily get pretty spoilery.

I want to start by saying that overall, I loved this book. The reason I made sure to start with that is because I have to say that when I first started reading it, I was a bit underwhelmed. I didn’t dislike it, per se, I just wasn’t quite as in love with it as I was with Throne of Glass. I had just finished another book pretty quickly, and so by contrast, reading Queen of Shadows felt a bit slow even though it probably wasn’t as slow as I felt like it was.

The release of this book kind of crept up on me which I liked. I hadn’t been waiting for the release day with bated breath like I thought I’d be. I’d kind of forgotten when it was coming out and then one day, it was, so that was fun for me. It was a bit like a present.
My only complaint about the book was that it did take me a bit to get into it, but once I did, I loved it. It firmly cemented my feelings about pretty much everything but I don’t want to go into that too much for spoilers.

I was very satisfied with the ending and it left me feeling like I’d been through something. I couldn't quite decide on a specific rating, but I did love it.

Spring Reads 2019

I'm coming up to the end of my semester which is a relief. The most exciting part is that I'll finally have time to read! I'm also planning on finally playing some of the video games that the Internet and my boyfriend have been telling me to play for forever.  I thought I would share with y'all the books I'm most looking forward to reading as soon as my exams are over.  Also, for the sake of transparency, the links in this post are affiliate links to Amazon. These don't change the price for you, but I do get a percentage of the cost of anything you buy through the link. It would be great if you used these links, but please feel free to buy these books however you want or get them at your local library.  I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver May 28, 2019 Buy from Amazon When Ben De Backer comes out to their parents as nonbinary, they're thrown out of their house and forced to move in with their estranged older sister, Hannah, and her husb...

College Decisions

Today I received my financial aid package from the university other than my local one that was most likely to give me the most aid. And it still wasn't enough. This means that I'll almost definitely be staying in Birmingham for college. While my top choice school is all the way in Philadelphia, I'm not as bummed about staying in town ass I previously thought I would be. Over the past few months, I've been warming to the idea of staying in the city for college and now, having made this decision, I feel pretty good about it. I'll be able to keep my current job and be able to keep volunteering at the Birmingham Crisis Center. I also have a friend who will be going to the same college and another who might be my roommate next year, which is really exciting. This also allows me to graduate with as few student loans as possible. This may not be the most fun post with all the talk about money, but I'm excited! I graduate in 2 months and six days and prom is less th...

Why I Started This Blog

Reading and writing are my two great loves and I especially love reading about girls. I also feel that girls don't appear enough in popular media. I've loved books all my life and one of my favorite things is sharing the books I love with other people. I'm also hoping that young girls find this blog and that I can make it easier for them to find characters they can relate to. I also hope to write about a wide range of books and characters and help readers see a point of view they might not have seen before. I want this blog to start a discussion between me and my readers about the ways girls are represented in books and so I want my readers to feel free to comment on any of my posts. I'll be posting my first review soon.
